Class News (16.6.23)
It’s been a busy and very warm week in Year 5! Last week Ms Gunn launched our Fit for 15 programme with the NSPCC’s run a mile initiative. This week we kept fit completing simple circuits and over the coming weeks we’ll be improving our fitness and stamina as well as maintaining a healthy diet.
In Maths we’ve been estimating and measuring angles and then we’ve practised using protractors and drawing our own angles. We’ve now moved onto using our division and multiplication skills to answer more complex word problems. In English we’re exploring our new text, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, and spent an enjoyable morning performing the scene where Macbeth and his friend, Banquo, meet the three witches. (See the photos below). We’ve compared the original text as written by Shakespeare in Elizabethan English to more modern story versions and wrote letters and diary extracts too.
In RE we’ve been discussing our ideas on freedom and responsibility through our new unit called ‘Reconciliation’. In PE we’ve been practising our athletic skills and this week we learnt the basics of triple jumping!
Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week as well!
Have a good week-end and enjoy the sunshine. Take care and stay safe.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
