Week 4 (26.1.24)
Welcome to Year 3's week!
In Maths, we’ve been working hard to learn multiplication and division facts through TTRS and subtracting three digit numbers using the written formal method.
In English, we have watched a video about Greta Thunberg giving a speech on climate change to the United Nations COP24 conference. This helped us to write our own persuasive speech about the plastic waste that is often discarded in the Lee Valley Park. We used lots of facts together with rhetorical questions and imperative verbs to add cohesion to our work.
In our RE topic on journeys we’ve been discussing the special feast days for Our Lady Mary and the journey she and Jesus take together. We’ve looked at how it can impact our lives as well as how important prayer is to help us on our journeys.
In History we’ve investigated why the Roman army was so successful by looking at the equipment a Roman soldier used.
Finally, in Science, we’ve tested different surfaces and compared them to see how objects move on them. We recorded the force used to help them move using forcemeters and discussed the work of John McAdam who improved roads and their surfaces making traffic move more easily.
Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Writer too.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard and Miss Cicero
