Week 9
We had a lovely start to this week! We celebrated our First Holy Communion Celebration Mass in class. Everyone looked very smart in their special clothes and spoke their lines clearly. It was a very proud moment for both parents and teachers to see the class take their communion as well. Father John took the Mass and guided the children through each stage making it a very memorable experience for us.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a party to celebrate our achievement. Many thanks to all those who brought in food to make it a delicious feast for the children and it make it a fitting end to a lovely celebration.
We’re enjoying our new book ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes in our English lessons. We have excellent readers in the class who really enjoy adding lots of expression and discussing the text. We’ve created some super similes and marvellous metaphors from the first chapter as well as starting to create a profile of the main character.
In Maths, we’re practising our division skills through grouping and sharing as we solve word problems.
In Science, we’re investigating pollination, germination and the lifecycle of plants. We’re very lucky we have such lovely school grounds because we visited the Forest School, Prayer Garden and Gardening club area to help us see first-hand how plants are pollinated and grow.
In Geography this week, we used atlases to investigate England’s 48 counties and we’ll be looking at land use in our local area next.
This Thursday Years 1-5 divided into their Houses and planned an Enterprise Project to sell at our school Summer Fete. We were all involved in pricing the items we’re going to use, how much we’ll sell them for and how we’ll advertise them on our stalls at the Fete. Next week, we’ll be making our items ready to sell!
Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Writer too.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
Best wishes
