WEEK 3 - 26|09|2025

Another jam-packed week of learning in Year 2! 📚

This week in English, we finished our unit ‘Frog and the Stranger’, which really got the children thinking about how to treat everyone equally, even if they look different, and about being a hero, just like Rat! We are looking forward to starting our new unit next week, ‘How to Become Friends with a Ghost’, where the children will learn to write commands using verbs and eventually create their own entertaining instructions on ‘How to Be a Good Friend’.

We also took part in a carbon dioxide workshop, where the children learnt what carbon monoxide is, where it can be found, and how to keep homes safe. We hope they enjoyed their activity packs!

In Maths, we continued working on adding tens and some more. The children used counters and money to regroup, exchanging ten ones for one ten. They did brilliantly, despite this being a tricky concept.

In History, we continued comparing schools from the past to schools today. The children wrote diary entries imagining what it would be like to be in a classroom in the 1900s and explored the similarities and differences with our classroom today.

In Science, we continued learning about life cycles and what animals need to stay alive and healthy. The children drew their own animals and described what each needed to survive.

In RE, we learnt about Noah’s Ark and God’s promise to Noah. God asked Noah to build a boat and take pairs of every animal to keep them safe from the flood. After the flood, God sent a rainbow as a sign of His promise never to flood the world again. The children made rainbows out of their handprints to show that they will try to be good, just like Noah.

Finally, a special mention to our Stars and Learner of the Week!
✨ Stars of the Week: Sade and Isreal for their outstanding participation, behaviour, and hard work this week.
✏️ Learner of the Week: Zeynep, for her fabulous story in English – well done!
