Hello everyone!

This week was Science week. The theme was 'Change and Adapt' and we had lots of fun with our science topic-Fairytale Fanatics! We had to help Dr Wolf prove that he isn't the villain that all the fairytales make him out to be! The children had to change and adapt straws to see which was best for blowing and pushing a Malteser the furthest. We then tested the strength of biscuits to see which was the strongest to withstand water.  The children had to dunk each biscuit in water and count the number of dunks until it breaks. Shortbread was the strongest biscuit incase you ever need to make a house like the witch in Hansel and Gretel! We then made a 'mattress' out of sugar paper and filled it with a variety of materials to see if we could feel a bead through the paper and the filling. Our final experiment involved finding out if the size of ears determine how well something can hear. Do big ears hear better?Apparently no, size doesn't make a difference! We all relished the opportunity to become scientists for the week, especially when we were able to eat some of the leftover biscuits and maltesers!

This week we also took part in the academy Easter writing competition, writing detailed recounts of the Easter story. The children all worked so hard and now we wait to see if one of our entries wins the competition!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Carpineta
