Sharing a shell…
Another week has flown by...
To continue with our theme of 'Under the sea', we began the week reading another fantastic Julia Donaldson
story - Sharing a shell. As well as themes on friendship and sharing it also gave us a chance to explore other sea creatures, and what a rock pool is. We had great fun guessing what the under the sea creatures could be with an interactive power point. The children are getting very good at naming different animals found in our seas and oceans.
In keeping with our literacy story, in maths we had an array of different shells oyster, muscle, clam, cockle, scallops, slipper limpet and whelks (all found on Whitstable beach), we used them to count and match to different quantities and numerals.
We also explored and investigated different shells and what animals might have lived inside in our science area.
In our creative area the children enjoyed making sparkly fish using gem stickers and sequins. We have continued with our phase 2 phonics this week - we are really impressed! We have also been focusing on name writing again this week and are so impressed how this is developing. Thank you, you can definitely see the Nursery children have been practicing at home.
Well done to our stars of the week Thalia and Aliyar and our Trunki reading star Tony.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Vinci & Mrs Direnzo
