WEEK 2
It was lovely too meet you all on Tuesday and answer questions you had. I have attached below is the information from Tuesday’s Meet the Teacher for those who were unable to attend.
We’ve had a busy and exciting week of learning in class, with lots of hands-on activities and fantastic discussions across all subjects!
In Maths, we continued our focus on place value, with the children playing various games to deepen their understanding of number size and how to compare numbers—particularly those with zero as a placeholder. Next week, we’ll be moving on to number magnitude, exploring how numbers can be represented and compared in different ways.
In Science, we’ve had lots of fun (and a little mess!) as we explored the digestive system. Using food, we recreated the different stages of digestion, helping the children to visualise and understand this fascinating process. Make sure to check out the photos!
In English, our focus has been on using speech in stories. The children have been learning how to correctly use inverted commas, start a new line for each new speaker, and move the reporting clause around for effect. They’ve been putting this into practice in their writing—well done to all!
In History, we travelled back in time to learn about children’s lives in the past. A highlight of the week was “interviewing” a Tudor boy, which helped us explore how life has changed from the Tudor times to today.
In RE, we looked at the Salvation story. Working in groups, the children retold key parts of the story, building teamwork and deepening their understanding of the topic.
We’ve also learned a new spelling rule in preparation for next week. From now on, we’ll be including a couple of Year 3 and 4 common exception words in our weekly spelling tests, so please continue to practise these at home.
A big well done to our Star of the Week and Learner of the Week—you’ve really impressed us with your effort and attitude!
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
