WEEK 3
What a short but fast week it has been here!
Our children have been completing their RE unit and are now started their new topic, 'New Life'. This theme is sure to spark curiosity and reflection among our children as they explore the various aspects of life and growth within the catholic chuch.
In geography, we've been diligently wrapping up our exploration of 'Food'. The children engaged in meaningful discussions and, with the invaluable insights gained from an interview with our school’s head chef, crafted balanced arguments regarding whether our food should be locally sourced. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to apply their learning to real-world issues and think critically about the food we consume.
In history, we have set our sights on the fascinating world of the Mayans. The children are keen to uncover the rich culture and contributions of this ancient civilisation, and I am confident they will develop a deeper appreciation for history as we delve into this new unit.
Our maths lessons have revolved around adding and subtracting fractions with decimals, using the formal column method. They have shown impressive progress and are increasingly confident in their mathematical abilities.
In English, we have continued our journey with 'Leon and the Place Between'. This captivating story serves as the perfect backdrop for developing our literary skills, encouraging imagination and critical thinking.
Lastly, in science, we've commenced our new topic on electricity. The children have been actively discovering which appliances rely on batteries, which are plugged into the mains, and even identifying some items that utilise both!
A huge congratulations to our stars of the week for their hard work and achievements – you all continue to shine brightly!
