WEEK 7 - 24|10|2025

Wow, this half term has flown by! The children have settled in wonderfully and should be so proud of all their hard work.

This week in English, we have finished our poetry unit. We wrote some of our own poems called ‘What is Autumn? Things I Have Been Doing Lately and Questions I Have Been Asking.’ We looked at punctuation in lists; each item in a list needs a comma to separate them from each other, but for the last item, you remove the comma and use ‘and’.

In Maths, we continued to look at 2-digit numbers and their properties. We have been counting on and back, looking at how the ones get smaller or bigger using a 100-square grid. As it is assessment week, the children also did their first mental arithmetic paper, and they all tried really hard!

In RE, we took a walk to church to see Fr John, who taught us all about the sacrament of Baptism. We did a role play in church and spoke about why baptism is important. We also looked at the white garment and what it symbolises, then designed our own. Afterwards, we wrote up what we learnt from Fr John. We also discussed how the sacrament of Baptism links to the Great Flood and Noah’s Ark, which we learnt about at the beginning of the unit. After half term, we will start our ‘Promise and Prophecy’ unit.

In History, we finished our topic on Schools from the Past. We compared what schools were like in the past and then debated whether we would have preferred to go to school then or now. I know I’d definitely want to go to school now!

Finally, a special mention to our Stars and Learner of the Week!
Stars of the Week: Tabi-Mercy and Asaiah for their outstanding behaviour and helpfulness this week.
✏️ Learner of the Week: Martin, for his hard work and effort, especially this week!

Thank you all for your support. We wish you a lovely and safe half-term — enjoy and make lots of memories.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday!

Kind regards,
Miss Perone & Mrs Nicolini
