Another week over in Reception with lots of learning!

English:This week we read the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We sequenced the story and also wrote our own sentences.

Phonics:We have been recapping phase 2 and learning the 'qu and sh' sound. Our new tricky word was 'he'.

Maths: We have been measuring how tall the beanstalks were using cubes. We also counted objects and circled the correct numeral.

Understanding of the world; This week we learnt what a fruit was and what a vegetable was. We sorted out which were fruit and which were vegetables. We used all the fruit donated and made our own fruit kebabs. We had so many fruits left over that we then decided to make our own fruit smoothies.

We also looked at seasons and how we are in winter. We looked for the signs of how we know we are in winter.

Art: We also concentrated very hard with our observational drawing of the Poinsettia plant. We looked at the detail on the red leaves and how they felt soft.
