Spring 1, Week 2, Friday 16th January 2026
It's been another busy week in Year 6 with some great work on dividing to prove the decimal equivalents of fractions and dialogue and description writing in English.
Year 6 particularly enjoyed science this week when they were investigating which beaks would be more efficient for finches as part of our Evolution. They had to move as many sunflower seeds as possible from one bowl to another in 30 seconds using chopsticks (long beaks) and then tweezers (small beaks). They had three attempts at each before finding averages and comparing their results. Small beaks won by a mile. An interesting and fun way of investigating the findings of Charles Darwin.
