Spring 1, Week 3 - Friday 24th January

We've finished the third week back after Christmas already and the last two weeks have been busy and hard working.  In maths over the last two weeks, we have revised adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators before moving on to equivalent decimals and percentages.  We then practised percentages of amount and problem solving with percentages.  We are now working on geometry - looking at properties of polygons, classifying, identifying and drawing them.

Our English has been based on Talking History - a book which the children are really enjoying and finding informative.  This week children wrote reviews of speeches that they'd found particularly inspiring and a radio advert for a television programme.

Year 6 are particularly enjoying history at the moment - the events leading up to World War 2 and the Blitz have really grabbed their attention.

This week in RE, we were studying other world religions so we have been learning about Hinduism.  We have also learned about this year's Jubilee Year of Hope and written about how we can be Pilgrims of Hope over the next twelve months.
