Welcome to Year 1 everyone! 

The end of our first full week in Year 1 and the children are settling into their new routines beautifully!We have already been hard at work. 

Our book this week was Jasper's Beanstalk and the children had to make predictions on what would happen next in the story. They also wrote captions and labels for their ideas and we created story maps showing the key parts of the story.

In maths we looked at positional language and I was very impressed with how the children were able to demonstrate their understanding particularly of 'between' and 'in front of', which can be quite tricky concepts. 

We began our history topic, 'How am I making history?', and will be creating our own human timelines next week! More on that in next week's news.

We are awaiting a new tablet in Year 1 so pictures will follow in upcoming news items.

Please can you ensure all clothing is labelled, including PE kits

Reading records need to be signed by a parent/carer before books are changed. We aim to change books Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
