Week 12
This week in Year 5 we’ve been busy revising our understanding of column addition and subtraction in Maths. Next week, we’ll be doing the same with multiplication and division as well as fractions.
In English, we’ve been exploring the features of narratives by reading our new text ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies and we will be writing our own version of the story soon.
In Science we’ve started our new topic and have been investigating different types of forces by testing a variety of objects from orange peel floating in water to calculating the amount of force needed to stretch different springs.
In RE we began one of our favourite topics of the year, Hope, and we began by discussing how we wait for both good and bad things to happen. Next we’ll be examining the importance of Advent as a time of waiting in joyful hope for Jesus.
Congratulations to our two stars of the week and our writer. It was a hard decision to make as everyone is all working so well in Year 5. Keep it up!
Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you back in school on Monday.
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
