Week 3 26.9.2025
Friday again and another busy week in Year 1!
This week, in English, our story was Puffin Peter. The children had to annotate pictures of puffins with labels and facts. Did you know a puffin can flap it's wings 400 times a minute? We timed ourselves to see if we could 'flap' our arms as fast as a puffin and we managed 141 arm flaps in a minute! The children also had to write sentences about Peter and Paul.
In maths, we continued looking at positional language and ordinal numbers. The children had the tricky task of placing toys on the correct shelves in the toy shop. They all did so well.
In RE we continued learning about the Creation Story. Many of the children remembered that it can be found right at the start of the Bible. The children had to recall and write about what God created each day.
In science we went on a materials hunt around the class. The children were put in groups and each group was allocated a material and had to find items made from that material. The children all enjoyed searching around the classroom and did well identifying items made of their given material.
Thank you for sending in your child's baby and birthday photos. The children have really enjoyed sharing their photos in preparation for creating their own timelines.
