Week 3

This week has been busy again and two highlights have been our May procession and today’s VE Day St Joseph’s celebration.

We held our May Procession in the school’s Prayer Garden on Wednesday. Thank you to all of you for bringing in your flowers to put around our statue of Mary.  They looked beautiful and made the service very special.

Today we celebrated VE Day with an Assembly in the morning followed by class-room based activities such as; creating union flags, designing a commemorative coin and writing either a VE Day speech or writing a newspaper article about a VE Day party.  In the afternoon, the PTA organised lots of activities as well as providing a tea party kindly donated by our St Joseph families. We played fun games on the field, created medals and posters as well as learnt a 1040s style dance.  It was a lovely way to celebrate such a special day.

In Maths we’ve continued with our work on converting between units of measure and in English we’ve been planning and writing a survival guide using our class book, ‘The Book of Lost Adventure’, to support us.

In RE, we’ve started our next topic on Transformation and have discussed the importance of the meeting Jesus has with two disciples on the road to Emmaus and in Science we’ve been investigating whether materials, once they’ve been heated, can be returned back to their normal state or not.

Our tennis lessons are going really well too and this week we practised returning to a partner as well as practising our ground strokes over the net.  It was great fun!

Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week. Have a good weekend and I’ll see you next week.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard
