Week 4 3.10.25
Another busy week in Year 1. On Tuesday we celebrated Poetry Day with a visit from Neal Zetter! Each class had to select a few of Mr Zetter's poems to look at before selecting one to perform in front of the whole school! We chose to perform one of Mr Zetter's newest poems, entitled The Best Thing! We echo performed it, where I performed a line and the children repeated it. The children did so well that we came 3rd place out of 12 performances and won a class copy of Mr Zetter's new anthology of his greatest hits, Chicken in the Kitchen! Mr Zetter said that our performance was one of his favourites! I am so proud of your little ones
On Friday we celebrated St Francis Day with a school visit to church for mass. Year 1 walked and sat beautifully. Upon our return we had a treat of juice and biscuits. In the afternoon we joined with our house teams to create a piece of St Francis inspired art, which will be displayed in the hall for all to enjoy!
This week we continued the story of Puffin Peter, with ideas of what could happen next, and we wrote 'Missing' posters for puffin Paul, the lost puffin!
In maths we continued directional language and learnt left and right.
Thank you to those who have sent in baby and birthday photos. There is still time to send them in so please do so if you haven't done it already. We made a class timeline of our birthdays ready for our new KS1 corridor display (just outside the hall) so please take a look once it has been completed.
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday,
Mrs Carpineta
