This week, Year 4 have continued developing their explanation texts. We have been focusing on the language features needed to really hook the reader, including adverbs, prepositions, headings and subheadings, paragraphs, conjunctions, fronted adverbials and carefully chosen adjectives to add detail and interest.

In Maths, we explored discrete and continuous data. The children practised answering questions using data and also enjoyed creating and interpreting their own data sets.

In RE, we considered the question “Who do you say I am?” and discussed why Jesus was seen as a different type of king from what people at the time were expecting.

In Science, we have finished our topic on sound and will be moving on to our new topic, States of Matter.

In Art, we have been learning about tints and shades and how they can be used to create depth and impact in artwork. The children designed their own compositions, then drew and painted them using a range of painting techniques to create a 3D effect. Please see the photos to admire their fantastic work!
