WEEK 5 - 06|02|2026
My final week in Year 2 has been wonderful!
As this is my last week with Year 2, I’ve been reminded every day of what a special class they are. Their warmth, curiosity and hard work have made my time with them a joy. I’m so proud of all they’ve accomplished and grateful for the welcome they’ve given me - I will truly miss them all.
🌟 English
The children proudly published their own versions of Rapunzel this week. They worked incredibly hard to edit, improve and present their stories beautifully, before sharing them confidently with our friends in Year 1. It was a lovely celebration of all their effort and imagination!
➗ Maths
We finished our topic on Money, focusing on finding change from different amounts. The children used number lines, place value knowledge and bar models to help them solve problems with increasing independence. Their resilience throughout the unit has been brilliant to see.
🕰️ History
As part of our unit, ‘Up, Up and Away’, the children learned about the moon landing and the achievements of Neil Armstrong. They explored why this event was so significant and discussed how it changed our understanding of space. Their curiosity and thoughtful questions shone through the lesson.
🎨 Art
In Art, Year 2 created beautiful collages of the Sahara Desert and Antarctica, using a range of tools to add texture—such as sponges, sticks and brushes. They experimented with layering materials (creating overlap) to show smooth, grainy and icy effects, resulting in some stunning artwork.
✝️ RE
This week in RE, the children learned about the Parable of the Lost Sheep and reflected on what it teaches Christians about forgiveness and God’s love. They also discussed the Act of Contrition and thought carefully about how prayer can be used to say sorry and make better choices.
✨ Stars of the Week:
The Whole Class — for their fantastic effort, kindness and hard work throughout my time with them. They should all feel incredibly proud!
✏️ Learner of the Week:
Zeynep — for publishing her story independently and showing brilliant focus in English.
Thank you for your continued support. It has been a pleasure teaching Year 2 over the past four weeks. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, ready to welcome Miss Perone back on Monday!
Kind regards,
Miss Kendrick & Mrs Nicolini
