Week 5 10.10.25
This week in Year 1, we looked at colour poems and began identifying items unique to each colour and will use these to write our own colour poems next week.
In maths we were subitising numbers to 10 and looked for patterns when counting objects.
In history, we completed our timelines and discussed how we celebrated our birthdays. We also looked at birthday traditions around the world.
On Tuesday, we had a Drama4All workshop arranged by Miss Gunn. We had to help Merlin the Wizard to retrieve his sword from Morgan La Fey. The children really enjoyed acting out and following the story. A wonderful time was had by all!
This week was also our Black History Month Celebrations. We listened to the truly heartbreaking and inspirational story of Henry 'Box' Brown and his break for freedom from slavery.
We also learned about Walter Tull, who was one of the first black professional footballers in Britain and the first black officer to lead soldiers during World War One. Sadly he died during combat.
Have a wonderful weekend and see you on Monday,
Mrs Carpineta
