WEEK 5
This Week in Class
We've had a wonderfully busy and productive week! It's getting closer to Christmas now, and all the Christmassy things have started. It's such a magical time of the year!
English:
This week, we completed our poetry unit. The children have produced some fantastic work, and I’ll be adding a selection of their poems to the website next week once they are ready to be published. We are now preparing to begin our new unit on explanation texts.
Maths:
In maths, we have finished our work on column addition and subtraction. We have now moved on to multiplication and division and are beginning to build confidence with these new skills.
Geography:
Our rainforest topic has been full of discovery. We explored the four layers of the rainforest and learned about the different animals that live in each one. The children have particularly enjoyed comparing the habitats and creatures found at each level.
RE:
In RE, we looked at the story of Elijah and discussed the similarities between him and Abraham. We also explored the symbolism of bread and oil and talked about the significance of this story within the wider context of faith.
PSHE:
We have been learning about rights, consequences, rewards, and responsibilities. The children created their own posters to demonstrate their understanding, and they were thoughtful and creative in how they presented their ideas.
Spanish:
This week, we started our new topic: instruments. The children enjoyed learning the names of different musical instruments in Spanish and practising saying them aloud.
Science:
In science, we began our new unit on sound. We carried out five different investigations to explore how sounds are made at each station. The children were enthusiastic scientists and loved discovering the vibrations behind different noises.
Well done to our Stars of the Week and our Learner of the Week.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend. 🌟
