Week 1

Happy New Year and welcome back to Year 3 after the Christmas break.  It’s been so lovely to hear all your Christmas news and start our new Spring topics.

In English, we’ve been using drama to help us understand the feelings the characters have in our fables and how these feelings affect their behaviour.  We’ve also revised our understanding of both co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions to help us with our sentence writing.

In Maths, we’ve been revising the formal written method for addition and we’ll be practising our subtraction skills next week.  Our new RE topic is called ‘Galilee to Jerusalem’ and it focuses on Jesus’ ministry and how the parables he tells help us to understand the Kingdom of God.

In Science, we finished our topic on forces by investigating the different magnetic poles of a magnet and the distance it takes a bar magnet to attract a metal object.  In History we’re looking at why the Romans settled in Britain and we’ll be constructing Roman shields and swords to support our understanding of the battle formation of Roman legions.

Congratulations to our Stars of the week and to our Learner too.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.

Best wishes

Mrs Howard, Miss Cicero and Mrs Mills
