Whatever Next …..

Our traditional tale the children have been reading this week in Nursery is ‘Whatever Next’! Nursery have really enjoyed retelling this tale and acting it out using the puppets and props. This rich story telling language is so important and it is wonderful to hear the children retelling our traditional tales with such great expression and enthusiasm! The story is about a bear and an owl who go to the moon in a cardboard box with a teddy, a picnic and a colinder for a space helmet.

As part of our understanding about the world, we looked at NASA website and a real rocket launch. We saw what it was like inside the rocket ship and we looked at the moon.

To continue developing our fine motor skills the children have been making with our special moon playdough. They have been very creative! We have been practicing our cutting skills by making our own shape rockets , it was great to listen to all their mathematical language, names of shapes and size.

On Thursday we also celebrated ‘World Book Day! We had a fantastic day and so wonderful to see all of nursery dressed as a favourite book character! We started off the day with a wonderful book day assembly celebrating the wonders of books and the enjoyment of reading! Afterwards Nursery made their own paper plate stories with lollipop stick characters. They then visited Reception and Year one class, to take part in various book activities.
We have been so busy but we have learnt two new sounds ‘p’ and ‘I’ this week as part of our phase 2 phonics and we have been continuing to practice writing our names. Through rhymes and songs we continue to learn and practice our numbers and number formation. We have also enjoyed playing in our outdoor area with the beautiful sunshine we have had this week.

Well done to our stars of the week Barbara and Jude 🤩🤩 and our learner of the week Bulut 🤩

Have a wonderful weekend!
