The Curious Why ?…
Just another fun packed week in Nursery!
This week was National British Science Week, and it was wonderful to see all the nursery children dressed as scientists and all things science related 😊. This years theme for EYFS was ‘Curiosity: what’s your question? To encourage our nursery children’s young minds to ask questions they are curious about our world. In our investigation area we had magnets and explored the question is everything magnetic? The children absolutely loved this so much, it was an activity we kept out all week for them to explore. It was a great oracy activity too and allowed the children to hear scientific vocabulary such as magnetic, attract and repel. We also looked at the importance of looking after our world and how we can look after our world by recycling. The children used all the boxes and tubes you all kindly donated to turn and make into something else. Nursery also completed an experiment with Reception class how to clean/filter water by removing sand using filter paper. We ended the week reading The Curious Why story and hopefully the children will have more questions about their world to ask you! 😊
As we are in the time of Lent and preparing for Easter, Nursery have been thinking how we can can do more to help at this time as well as giving something up . The children made their own Lenten Promises which we have displayed on our Lenten Tree on our RE display. We also discussed the reason why we have the colour purple at this time on our class reflection table.
We have been so busy but we have learnt a new sound ‘i’ this week as part of our phase 2 phonics and we have been continuing to practice writing our names. Through rhymes and songs we continue to learn and practice our numbers and number formation. We have also enjoyed playing in our outdoor area albeit a bit windy 🍃.
We wish all our nursery mummies a very special Mothering Sunday 💐 and we hope you like your cards that nursery decorated with their own little finger prints. As you will see since their Christmas cards how their name writing has progressed.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday for our parent consultations.
congratulations to our stars of the week Sofia and Christian 🤩🤩 and our learner of the week Tommy 🤩
Have a wonderful weekend!
