This is where you will find all the important weekly information and hear about our learning journey.

This week in English, we began our new book, 'Frog and the Stranger'. We explored the different characters and their feelings, while also learning about statement sentences and how to use conjunctions in our writing. Along the way, we discovered some exciting new vocabulary, including the word impressive. The children really enjoyed discussing the story so far and are looking forward to finding out what happens next!

In Maths, we started our topic on place value, building numbers up to 100. We practised identifying how many tens and ones a number has, using lots of different resources such as base ten and bead strings. We also recapped our Year 1 learning, including the 2, 5, and 10 times tables, as well as our understanding of number magnitude.

Our new History topic is 'Schools From the Past'! We have been asking questions about how schools have changed over time and exploring pictures to help us compare the past with the present.

In Science, we began our topic, 'Animals Including Humans'. We matched adult animals to their offspring and discovered some fascinating facts. Did you know that the offspring of a goat is called a kid?

We also launched our Oracy learning this week by pairing up with the Year 1 class.

We played a fun 'Get to Know Me game', making sure to use excellent listening skills, while looking at the speaker and paying full attention. At the end, we showcased what we had learned about our partners.

All the children demonstrated fantastic active listening skills!
