WEEK 12 - 5|12|2025
Only 20 more days until Christmas... 🎄
This week, we have continued our exciting new topic, ‘Dragon Post’, and have been exploring different types of letters. The children enjoyed writing both emails and apology letters, thinking carefully about their purpose, structure, and tone. It has been wonderful to see them becoming more confident writers!
In maths, we have been learning how to rebalance subtraction sums. For example, in a calculation like 59 – 9, we can rebalance it to 60 – 10. By doing the same to both numbers, the difference stays the same! The children have worked brilliantly to understand this strategy and spot patterns in numbers.
In RE, we delved deeper into the meaning behind the Advent wreath. We explored the symbolism of the five candles—peace, love, joy, hope, and Christ, reminding us that Jesus is the light of our world. We also discussed the circular shape of the wreath, representing God’s never-ending love, and the evergreen leaves, which symbolise His everlasting presence.
In Geography, we continued learning about hot and cold places. This week, we looked at whether we live in a hot or cold place. We used compasses to explore the four directions—North, South, East, and West—and discovered that we live in a temperate climate, meaning we enjoy warm summers and mild winters. The children loved becoming mini geographers!
We have also been having great fun practising our Nativity, and the excitement is really building in the classroom!
