Week 9

It was British Science Week this week at St Joseph’s and Year 3’s topic was called Curious Critters. We researched our favourite minibeasts in the UK and wrote a fact file about one.  In the next lesson we explored the Prayer Garden in the school grounds and observed ants, worms, woodlice, slugs and ladybirds in microhabitats that were usually dark and damp. We’ve also created two test sites where we have added natural materials to two transparent boxes. One box has been left outside without a lid on and we’ve put the other inside in the classroom with a lid on. We will observe the two boxes to see if any living things are attracted to them or were already there in the soil or leaves we left in the boxes. Today all pupils in the school took part in a science themed dress-up day to celebrate all the exciting science activities we’ve done throughout the school.

In Maths we’ve been learning about regular and irregular polygons and in English we’ve been writing a recount of our visit to the Verulamium Museum in St Albans last Friday.

Today we enjoyed making Mother’s Day cards.  We hope that all Mothers have a very special and happy day this Sunday. Finally, congratulations to our Learner and Stars of the week!

Best wishes
