Week 9
It’s been another busy and very warm week in Year 5. Year 5 really enjoyed our whole school Aspirations. On Thursday we came to school dressed as nurses, doctors, chefs, a civil engineer, an author, a CEO, an army officer and many more. Then today we had visitors - including the Mayor of Broxbourne Councillor Spears and our local M.P. Lewis Cocking - coming into school to tell us about their career paths and to inspire us in our career choices.
Another highlight this week was our taster session of Gaelic football which everyone joined in with enthusiastically as well as our rounders PE lesson.
In Maths this week, we’ve been investigating percentages, fractions and decimals and in English we’ve been writing about the main character in our new book, ‘Cloud Busting’, written in verse by Malorie Blackman. In RE we’ve been discussing the story in the Book of Exodus of the Israelites leaving Egypt and slavery led by Moses and their journey through the desert to find a new home and in Geography we’re investigating deserts throughout the world and whether it would be good to live in one.
Today was St Joseph’s Summer Fete and we all enjoyed visiting the different stalls and playing on the various rides. Many thanks to the PTA for organising the event and helping to raise funds for our lovely school.
Many congratulations to our Writer and Stars of the Week. Have a good week-end and try to stay cool in the heat!
Best wishes
Mrs Howard
